My short vacation started on 31 Mar 09 with a trip to Kluang, Johore to visit my cousins and aunt. I have not been there for quite a while so take this 'Qing Ming' festival opportunity to pay them a visit and at the same time, to visit my grandparents grave. Here's what the Chinese cemetery looked like....
It was about 7 am in the morning when we arrived...
In the afternoon, my cousin was supposed to bring us to a place called Kahang Forest Recreation. It has a waterfall and a beautiful stream to swim and relax. To our disappointment, when we arrived, the gate was closed!!! No way are we going back after travelling for about an hour so we decided to turn into an alternative route and headed for a smaller stream........no fish prawn also can lah!!!! To our surprise, the place was not too bad! Managed to get a free Fish Flexology too as the stream is filled with the skin eating fishes!!!!

The next day, at 5.30 am, we headed straight for Genting Highlands. It was my first time driving there so was a bit Kan Jiong. But I did some homework before that so we managed to reach there smoothly without making too many wrong turns. The drive was actually quite pleasant and traffic was very smooth. Took us about 5 hours to reach the top. After checking into the hotel, we proceeded straight to the casino. Talk about recession... where got recession! The place was actually quite crowded on a weekday! I think it's because of the economic crisis that there were so many people trying their luck... no job so hope to make some quick bucks mah!!! As for me, I was only there to take pictures and to accompany my mom and aunt....hehehe!

The next day, we headed back to Kluang. I think I took the wrong route back as the drive was very long and we were caught in a jam due to a road accident on the highway. There was no clear signs so I think I missed a turn. When we arrived back at my aunt's place, it was already dinner time and I was damned tired!!!
On 4 April 09, my cousin brought me to a temple in Batu Pahat. He claimed that a lot of people go there to pray for happiness and fortune. Some even struck lottery after the prayers. I believed me cousin made some losses in Genting so......... When we were there, I was surprised to see quite a few Singapore vehicles too! There is even a chalet called 'Lover's Bridge' for rent with mahjong and karaoke facilities and a seafood restaurant....and it's near to the sea.
I also managed to make some contact for a fishing trip too!
On the way back.... can't resist to take this shot.........
When I was at one of my cousin's house, he showed me a handphone video which his friend took when they were out fishing and hunting for wild boar in a forested arear near to Kahang. I think they were there just a few days before we were there. It's a rare sight and these two lovers were at it for more than 10 minutes....enjoy!!! Wonder what kind of snakes those were.... looked like Anacondas or King Cobras!!! Can't imagine being caught in between them!
Well, I am back today and I should say I had a fruitful trip. The trip reminds me of the good old days I had when I was a child. My brothers and I used to go fishing and swimming in rivers with my cousins back then whenever my parents brought us to Malaysia. Although we are now adults with families, we still managed to find some fun. I doubt my kids will enjoy themselves if I bring them to visit these places....Hmmmm....why not? Maybe next time, I will bring them there and let them see what nature is!
